Beauty
Redden Catboat 14 is a stunningly beautiful sailboat. The classic natural lines of this Nova Scotia Catboat, set to life with the richness of mahogany in contrast with the ash and oak detailing, create an extraordinary beautiful craft. Created by Peter Redden, a life long designer, an internationally recognized sculptor in hardwoods and a licensed journeyman boat builder. The elegant ash coaming of each Redden Catboat 14 is adorned by two Redden carvings, the final detail in setting the biggest little daysailer on the market apart from the rest.
Easy to Sail
The Redden Catboat 14 is built to sail single handed easily. Perfect balance makes it easy to steer. It is designed to operate with the utmost simplicity, decreasing confusion for the new sailor, minimizing clutter in the boat and greatly improving the enjoyability of each sail. The boat comes with the option of a 125 or 150 sq ft sail. The 125 ft original sail is all the boat needs to move along in light winds and is easy to reef when the wind comes up. The 150 sq ft sail is well suited for a more spirited performance and a more experienced sailor.
Easy to trailer
The exceptionally light weight of this boat makes it extremely easy to trailer. Due to the hull’s clear spruce strip planking, sheathed in glass and epoxy, this boat uses the strongest, lightest and most buoyant process available for this hull shape. Its hull strength and lightness allow it to sail effortlessly onto the trailer and launch with equal ease. At 800 lbs, the Redden Catboat 14 weighs in at 30% less than other wooden 14 foot catboats.
Easy to maintain
From the factory, the Redden Catboat 14 comes with 12 layers of marine grade varnish. The result, to you, is years of high quality finish. It only takes a few hours to reapply a touchup coat of varnish to the brightwork when needed. All paint is marine grade over epoxy coated fiberglass.
Comfortable
The biggest little daysailer is also the most comfortable daysailer!
The sloped coaming rests easy on your back; sloped seats provide for comfort and quickly dispel water into the bilge; and the sliding back seat provides comfort when sailing then slides foreward turning into your dining table, convenient for you and your guests.
